At The Reef Hotel our guests consistently rate our service as exceptional, we like to think that this is because of the smiles and helpfulness of every member of our team that they encounter, from booking to departure.
Meet Lorato, our reservations manager, organiser and all-round happiness facilitator:
Hi Lorato, tell us a bit about your Reef Hotel journey.
Hi, I’ve been working at The Reef Hotel site June 2012 as Reservations Manager so I have been at the hotel for five years this month. My responsibilities have grown over the past 5 years to include coordinating all aspects of accommodation, conferences, and events. Most importantly I try to make sure that all our guests are happy and get the best service we can give them.
Speaking of service, returning guests always mention service as a reason for visiting the hotel again and again. What is it about the service at The Reef Hotel that is so special?
Well, I think first of all , all of our staff know that we might have a four star grading but this is a Five Star hotel. From my experience of working in other hotels including five star hotels I can tell you that the service at The Reef Hotel is the best you can get.
How do you maintain that kind of level of service?
Teamwork, it’s all about teamwork. We are like runners in a relay race, from when you book to checking in, to experiencing the services that the hotel has to offer, you get to meet different team members who are links in a chain. At the end of the day we have a guest that we need to make happy as a team. We strive to meet and exceed all of our guests expectations wether they are visiting us for the first time or have stayed with us many times before.
What do you think makes the hotel stand out from others?
Well from my experience, the hotel is different because it is not uptight. We don’t do everything the traditional way and we don’t stereotype our guests but rather try to get to know them personally and make sure that they get an experience suited to them. We also have Elevate and The Sun Deck which are beautiful venues for the guests to experience Johannesburg in a new way. At the Reef Hotel you can stay, play, meet, eat and entertain.
It is a special city isn’t it?
It is and I’ve seen over the past five years how people are starting to enjoy the city again. Tourists used to not want to go into the city but now it has been revamped and the area around the hotel is safe and has so much to see. It is great that people are starting to learn the history of the city again and to see it’s beautiful buildings. We also have so much to see in the area, markets at Maboneng and Neighbourgoods, amazing restaurants and cultural experiences all so close to the hotel.
What advice would you offer someone planning a trip to Johannesburg?
Forget Sandton! You can see now on sites like Tripadvisor how the feedback about the city is so positive. The city has so much to see and offer!
